We use Bookster as our booking platform and Stripe for payments. This means guests can pay using their bank cards on a secure system.

A 30% deposit secures your booking. After this initial booking guests have access to a ‘guest portal’ area to see details of their booking as well as information for the stay. Guests receive e mail confirmations at the time of booking and reminders when the balance is due.

Flamingo Land Fun!

Location, Location, Location: Tillers Holiday Cottage, North Yorkshire - Flamingo Land (approximately 20 mins).

We first visited Tillers Holiday Cottage in 2019 and one of the many reasons for choosing the cottage was the great location for a variety of days out. With two young children, Flamingo Land was their choice, it is situated 20 minutes drive from Tillers Cottage so arriving for the opening time and not needing to beat the traffic at closing time was a huge advantage in exploring all the park has to offer – oh, add maximising ride time!

Flamingo Land - something for the whole family.

For younger children there are daily shows and a good variety of animals in the zoo for all the family when parents need a break from the adrenalin rush of the rides.

As with us, I’m guessing most people visit Flamingo land for the rides, which simply put are excellent. A great range of family rides, children’s rides and thrill rides for everyone to have their level of exhilaration met – or indeed pushed to the limit.

'Lost River Ride' - soaked, but loved every second.

Our favourite family ride was the “Lost River Ride”. This took us on slow winding path through some of the animal enclosures so we could see the animals close up while enjoying some down time, what we didn’t quite account for is the extent of the log flume finish. We were soaked, but to the amusement of our children. Fortunately it was a hot day and there are some facilities at the end to help dry your self. I would advise being slightly more prepared then we were though for the finish!

'Velocity', 'Pterodactyl' and 'Kumali' - for the thrill seeker.

Flamingo Land memories, back to Tillers Holiday Cottage, North Yorkshire.

We really had a memory filled day at Flamingo Land and would highly recommend. We were able to have a couple of extra rides on the way out as we could stay until the last minute, while others dashed back to the car for the long drive home.

Tillers Cottage, Ebberston - above and beyond!

We booked Tillers Cottage in the summer of 2020 with another family and had a fantastic week's stay. Every day we did something different, it was so easy to find things to do to suit everybody. Tillers Cottage was fantastic - it had everything and more that we had hoped for!

Geocaching - a new hobby.

We'd never heard of geocaching before our week at Tillers - if only we'd known about it sooner! Our Ebberston base gave us the perfect introduction to this new hobby. Right on the doorstep, we walked to Chafer Wood. Our friends explained what we might be looking for and roughly where to find it. That first find was magical and we were hooked! After a really great circular walk we'd bagged four more and were keen to pursue the hobby later in the week.

Cache hungry - caching in North Yorkshire, learning the lingo!

Another day and another walk. Again, straight from the doorstep of Tillers Cottage. This circular walk took us through and beyond Chafer Wood and round to the village of Snainton. We logged twelve caches in total - these ones were great for the younger members of our party with their interesting containers and clear hints. A bonus stop in the beautiful beer garden of The Coachman Inn refreshed us enough for the final stretch home. By now, we had all become quite familiar with some of the common acronyms - BYOP and TFTC were rolling off our tongues - fortunately we did not need to DNF on this day!

Dalby Forest Geocaching - Nano, Micro, Muggles and SWAG!

With so much to do in Dalby Forest, geocaching wasn't really on the list! However, with our new found hobby, we simply couldn't ignore the plethora of caches we were surrounded by. After getting lost in the woods, we'd found micros, minis, avoided the muggles and sadly had to log our first DNF! We agreed to only follow one route to enable us time to complete some of the other activities in the forest. However, we will be back!

Ryedale and District, North Yorkshire - the perfect place to geocache.

It's fair to say, we're now Geocachers. We've still got a huge amount to learn and millions to find. Tillers Cottage gave us the perfect base to start this new hobby - we shall be back to tackle the hundreds of caches hidden in the Ryedale District!

The picturesque village of Ebberston

Ebberston village boasts a wonderful playpark and tennis court.

With so many things to do locally, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Ebberston itself has some lovely walks linking it with neighbouring villages. Chafer Wood lies just north of the village and is home to an array of beautiful wildlife as well as King Alfred’s Cairn, his resting place after a battle, dating back to 1790. For visitors who enjoy crafts, then Ebberston Studios, just a few doors down from Tillers, offer a range of workshops and courses. For the gardeners, Metcalfes Plant Centre on Penniston Lane has a fantastic range. Ebberston also has an exceptional play park, including modern and well maintained equipment and a tennis court.

Ebberston Village

Within 15 - 30 mins of Tillers Cottage: Scarborough, Dalby Forest, Thornton-le-Dale, Yorkshire Moors, Yorkshire Coast.

Within 15 – 30 minutes of Tillers Cottage, there are a wealth of attractions to suit the whole family. There’s an hourly bus which takes you to Scarborough on the East side and Helmsley to the west.

B ritain’s original seaside resort, Scarborough, offers the perfect day out for the whole family; there’s just so much to do! With two sweeping sandy bays, a trip to the beach is a must. The area is steeped in history, the castle ruins stand prominently and you can learn more about the history at the Rotunda Museum. The North Bay Heritage Railway, Peasholm Park, Sky Trail and Historic Water Chute are great family attractions. Finish off the day with a trip up Oliver’s Mount and enjoy what is possibly one of the best views of Scarborough.

ADVENTURE - Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire Water Park, Go Ape, Flamingo Land.

For the more energetic and adventurous visitors, Dalby Forest and North Yorkshire Water Park have a wide range of activities including; cycling, Go Ape, sailing, kayaking, AquaPark and plenty of space to walk and have a picnic. For those after an adrenaline rush, then Flamingo Land offers a whole range of rides and attractions suitable for all ages: there’s even a zoo! It really is easy to fill a whole day at each of these attractions.

Thornton-le-Dale, Forge Valley and Pickering.

There are some lovely villages just a few miles from Tillers, many offering beautiful walks and secluded woodland areas like Forge Valley. Thornton-le-Dale is a quaint village with a range of small shops and arguably some of the best ice cream around for miles! From here, there are several walks to suit the whole family. A couple of miles further and you reach Pickering, a small and vibrant market town with independent shops and the well-known Yorkshire Moors Railway, Pickering Castle and Beck Isle Museum.

North Yorkshire Coast and Country

Helmsley - 20 miles

The market town of Helmsley has lots to offer and is well worth the visit. Here you’ll find many attractions including: Rieveaulx Abbey, Helmsley Castle, Hemsley Walled Garden, National Centre for Birds of Prey, Duncombe Park and a heated open air swimming pool! There are some beautiful independent shops as well as an excellent range of places to eat.

Whitby - 24 miles

North Yorkshire Railway, Goathland 'Heartbeat Country' and Mallyan Spout Waterfall.

HISTORY & CULTURE: Eden Camp, Castle Howard, Sewerby Hall, Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens and Scampston Hall.

In addition to the places already mentioned, there are so many places within 45 minutes drive of Tillers, steeped in history and culture.

Eden Camp is an award winning visitor attraction under 30 minutes away from Tillers Cottage. It is set on the grounds of an original World War 2 Prisoner of War Camp and allows visitors of all ages to step back in time and experience what it was like in WW2.

Castle Howard has welcomed guests for over 300 years as well as featuring in many television productions. Castle Howard boasts a vast programme of events throughout the year.

Sewerby Hall and Gardens, near Bridlington, offers a great day out. The delightful house, beautiful gardens and the zoo make it the perfect choice for families.

Scampston Hall is a fine regency hall with many items of interest inside. The Walled Garden has a modern feel to it and there's a nature trail for the children across the parkland.

Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens are situated between Driffied and Bridlington. The hall and gardens are open to the public and there is a natural wooden playground and woodland sculpture walk.

Sledmere House and Gardens offer family fun, including a rare breed conservation farm park, shire horse centre and Wagoners' Museum.

RELAX & UNWIND

If it is just a week of chilling out and relaxing you crave, then Tillers Cottage is welcoming and very comfortable. There's plenty of space for everyone! With an open fire and a wood burning stove, books and games, you will find everything you need to just relax and unwind. The garden is a real sun trap - an excellent place to take time out on the private patio area and indulge in a good book from our collection.

Tillers Cottage, Ebberston - Covid Confident

Tillers Cottage is committed to ensuring the safety of guests, staff and the local neighbourhood. We have successfully gained the 'Good to Go' (Visit Britain) and 'Covid-19 Confident' (The AA) accreditations, showing we have a detailed risk assessment, reviewed our procedures and implemented extra measures in line with both the UK Government and Public Health Guidance. We are proud to be able to display the logos on our website.

Procedures in place

We have been working hard to ensure that when Tillers Cottage can re open, we are ready and safe to do so. We have made a few changes and implemented new procedures to make us Covid Confident. Some of these include:

A full risk assessment is in place.
Disinfectant which meets standard EN14476. This is effective on both hard surface areas and soft furnishings. Used at changeovers between guests.
Staff training to ensure everyone is following procedures and guidance including the use of PPE.
Disinfecting 'high touch' areas such as light switches, remote controls and keys.
Welcome Pack adapted to include disinfectant for use on both hard and soft surfaces, hand sanitiser and wipes.
Online guest portal area containing detailed information and useful contacts.
Contactless entry for guests.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to our COVID-19 procedures in place, preparation of Tillers Cottage between guests is taking a little longer than usual.

What to do if a Guest contracts Covid-19 whilst at Tillers Cottage?

Notify us immediately at enquiries@tillersholidaycottage.co.uk or on the phone numbers provided.
All guests must self-isolate and request a test by calling 119 or online at nhs.uk.
If you feel well enough to travel and do not need to use public transport, you should return home as quickly and directly as you can.
If you feel so unwell that you cannot travel or cannot avoid public transport, you should continue to isolate and call 111 for further guidance.
If self -isolating means you need to extend your stay at Tillers , you can only do so if it is agreed with us.
You will be expected to pay the costs of an extended stay in all but exceptional circumstances.
