Tillers Cottage Accessibility Statement


The aim of this accessibility statement is to accurately describe Tillers Cottage. It does not contain any personal opinions in relation to suitability for those with access needs. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at enquiries@tillersholidaycottage.co.uk.


Tillers Cottage dates to the 18th Century and was originally two cottages. Due to the age and the gently sloping land, there are steps to accommodate the change in levels both inside and around the cottage and some of the floors are uneven.


Key COLLECTION AND CAR PARKING

  • Contactless arrival - details found in customer portal after booking. Code will be e mailed to customer 48 hours prior to arrival.
  • Off road parking (gravel) is available for one car. Additional cars can be parked on the road nearby.
  • There is a gravel driveway (very slight slope) between the allocated parking space and the cottage. Our neighbour always has a vehicular right of access across this driveway.

 

ENTRANCE

  • Tillers Cottage is accessed by a step up onto the paving and then a step into the kitchen.
  • There is an outside light near the door (switch operated from inside the cottage).

 

DOWNSTAIRS LAYOUT

  • The kitchen and snug area are open plan.
  • There are base and wall units in the kitchen.
  • A large dining table and chairs to seat 8 people.
  • Two electric ovens, ceramic hob, fridge / freezer, microwave and washing machine. Pots and crockery are stored in both base units and wall mounted. Cupboard houses vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board, clothes airer, spare light bulbs.
  • There is a fire extinguisher, fire blanket and first aid kit in the kitchen.
  • Solid oak floors throughout.
  • Snug has a two-seater sofa, small chair, smart TV and DVD player. Log burning stove with heath surround and rug. There is also a cupboard containing board games. 
  • Two steps down lead through to the downstairs WC and lounge area.
  • The steps and lounge are carpeted.
  • WC has laminate flooring.
  • Lounge area has 2 x sofa, chair, coffee table, side tables, lamp, smart TV and a selection of books. There is a log burning stove with hearth surround, log basket and a rug in front.

 

HALLS, STAIRS, PASSAGEWAYS

  • The halls are well lit using ceiling lights
  • The hall and stairs floors are carpeted.
  • Outside door found in the downstairs hallway.
  • Staircase has a solid handrail / bannister.
  • At the top of the stairs is the en suite king and a twin room. A step up then leads to the other king size room, twin room and family bathroom. 

 

BEDROOMS

  • There are two king size bedrooms and two twin bedrooms.
  • Both king size rooms have wardrobe, drawers and bedside tables.
  • Twin 1 has a ‘tall boy’ with hanging and drawer space and bed side table. Twin 2 has a bedside table; bed drawer storage and a coat stand for hanging items on.
  • All bedrooms have carpeted floors.
  • All bedrooms are well lit with spot or ceiling lights.
  • Bedside lights next to all beds.
  • No feathers or down in duvets and pillows.

 

BATHROOM AND EN SUITE

  • En-suite has a shower, hand basin and WC.
  • En-suite has a tiled floor.
  • Bathroom has a bath, shower, WC and hand basin.
  • Bathroom has a tiled floor.

 

GARDEN

  • The enclosed garden is across the driveway from the cottage. It has a black iron hand gate.
  • Refuse bins and recycling boxes are through the hand gate.
  • The black iron hand gate leads onto a paved section before three steps up to a small gravel area immediately before the gently sloping grass area. 
  • At the top end of the garden are two steps up to the paved patio area.
  • Table and outdoor seating at the top end of the garden.
  • There is a lockable stone shed for guests to use – this shed does not have electricity, so a torch is required when it is dark.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Tillers Cottage is non-smoking.
  • Guest and information leaflets available on the guest portal and in the cottage.
  • One behaved dog is welcome. We kindly ask you to keep dogs off the furniture.
  • Bus route www.eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk service 128. Runs between Helmsley and Scarborough, stopping in Ebberston.
  • Taxis from Scarborough - 10 miles, Pickering - 7 miles, Malton 12 miles.
  • Train stations at Seamer and Scarborough.
